What the AiGC Logo Means

AiGC

You’ve likely seen the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) logo in gambling ads on TV commercials, billboards, and websites.

It doesn’t mean AiGC is promoting sportsbooks or casinos. It also doesn’t mean we’re endorsing gambling, or that the ads belong to us.

So what does it mean?

The logo is there for an important reason: It’s a stamp of approval, letting Albertans know that the iGaming site is registered and meets Alberta’s standards for game integrity, responsible gambling, and safety.

What Does AiGC Do?

AiGC is a provincial Crown corporation responsible for the conduct and management of Alberta’s regulated online gaming market. We work with iGaming sites by entering into operating agreements that hold them to strict player protection standards. Once they’re fully compliant, those iGaming sites can legally operate in Alberta.

Ultimately, AiGC ensures iGaming sites participating in Alberta's regulated market meet—and continue to meet—all requirements.

A Stamp of Approval

Before the regulated market launched on July 13, 2026, there were no legal repercussions for unregulated sites. Players risked not having their winnings provided. Player activity wasn’t monitored, and when gambling got out of hand, interventions weren’t enforced.

Today, sites that have chosen to enter Alberta’s regulated market are held accountable. As a result, all regulated iGaming sites must include the AiGC logo within their advertisements, on their websites, and within their social media to indicate that they are legally participating.

They must also provide mental health direction, anti-money laundering reports, financials, and a portion of revenue towards the betterment of our province.

More Than Just a Logo

The AiGC logo isn't the only difference you’ll notice on gambling ads.

They must also follow specific marketing requirements, including:

  • Restrictions designed to reduce exposure to minors and vulnerable individuals;
  • Rules against misleading claims; and
  • Guidelines around responsible gambling messaging.

Operators can't portray gambling as a way to make a living or achieve financial security. They can't encourage players to chase their losses. And, they can't encourage gambling behaviours that could lead to financial, social, or emotional harm.

There are also restrictions on using athletes, celebrities, influencers, and others who may appeal to minors.

In other words, joining Alberta's regulated market comes with rules. The logo helps you recognize who's playing by them.

Play Where You’re Protected
