Albertans Choosing Safe, Regulated iGaming
Preliminary data from first Market Performance Report demonstrates steady channelization
Edmonton, October 23, 2026: Responsible gambling was built into Alberta's regulated iGaming market from day one. Every player is verified, and every site must provide tools to manage play.
Alberta iGaming Corporation's (AiGC) first Market Performance Report—covering July 13 to September 30, 2026—suggests Albertans are taking notice by transitioning to the regulated market.
“Early results indicate that Albertans value the strong oversight and greater accountability offered by a regulated market,” says AiGC CEO Dan Keene. "We hope to continue educating Albertans about the risks associated with illegal offshore sites and move them onto regulated platforms where they have rights and recourse when iGaming.”
The Market Report results represent the gradual onboarding of iGaming Operators during the reporting period. As such, they are not a full representation of the total iGaming market.
Alberta’s market opened on July 13, 2026, with 15 iGaming Operators and grew to 24 as of September 30, 2026. AiGC expects several more iGaming Operators to move to the regulated market by the end of this calendar year.
In addition to player protection, Alberta’s regulated market directs a portion of revenues from Gross Gaming Revenue to support First Nations (2%) and Social Responsibility programs (1%). These funds will support programming in mental health and addiction, as well as research.
"Regulation matters,” Keene continues. “This is a market where approved iGaming Operators are held to high standards of accountability, and where revenue stays in the province to fund programs and services Albertans rely upon.”

Moving forward, AiGC will provide reporting each month to ensure Albertans have a firsthand view of market performance.
